In this video I show you how I was able to make these amazing images by crushing ambient light using just two off-camera Cactus RF60 speedlights triggered by the a Cactus V6II Wireless Flash Transceiver.
The V6II lets you do HSS or High Speed Sync. That means you can pop your flashes beyond your camera's flash sync speed so for example with my Canon 5DMKIII, instead of being limited to 1/250th sec max flash sync, I can now use flash all the way up to 1/8000 sec.
My Canon DLSR and my Fuji X-Pro 2 have flash sync limitations when pushing flash past 1/250 sec so that means unless I use an ND filter on my lens, I cannot shoot wide open apertures if there's a lot of daylight, but HSS helps to solve this problem.
Using HSS does have its limitations. The biggest being that you are not getting the same flash power as you speed up your shutter speed because the less the shutter duration, the less light will be able to pass thru.
As always, I recommend you get your ambient exposure set before you add flash. That way you know how your background will look and then can dial in flash to light your subject.
